Don't be surprised if you see a beta or development build here. We believe
strongly in eating our own dog food, and that means running our database engine
in production environments.
What technologies were used?
This site was initially built using Visual Studio 2005 and Microsoft Expression Web. Of course VistaDB 3.x provides the data access. The AJAX control
toolkit is also used for asynchronous callback to the server during posting of data.
We are now migrating all of this to Visual Studio 2008 using the ASP.NET 3.5 runtime as the engine. The decision was made that since we had not deployed the website yet, and VS 2008 offers some advantages over 2005 we would make the leap now (and hopefully not land on our sword).
You will notice that the VistaDB Engine is still reporting Dot Net 2. We do
not have a specific build for 3.5 yet as there is nothing to take advantage of
at this time. We will be producing 3.5 binaries in the near future. But even then the 3.5 framework actually runs on top of Dot Net 2. Almost everything is added as extention methods on top of 2.0.
